For this short week, I have a short post. Really, it’s just an idea.
Back to School Night is here and with it comes the opportunity to reach out to parents we most likely will never hear from again. This can be good or bad, depending on the case. Most of us are in the habit of creating a paper sign-in sheet to keep track of parents who visit our classroom, but this year, why not create a digital sign-in that actually serves a larger purpose? One that saves time and will help you support students down the road. Not to mention, it has PBIS written all over it.
Below, I have a link to a simple survey that will help you get the info you need, without having to keep track of a paper record. For my survey, I included things like parent name, email/phone number, how often they check PowerSchool, as well as suggestions as to how I can best support their student.
This link will make a copy of my sample survey to your Google Drive, where you can then make any edits or additions to suit your needs.
If you’d like to have a form available in Spanish as well, make two copies of the survey and then check out this quick video on how to use the Google Translate extension (download from the Chrome Web Store).
You can set up some Chromebooks with both surveys open in separate tabs for parent convenience. Your data will be organized and stored in Google Sheet for you to access anytime.
If you need any assistance setting these up, please let me know!
